Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin will join the United States squad for upcoming friendlies against Chile and Panama, US coach Jurgen Klinsmann announced Saturday in naming a 23-man lineup.

Yedlin is set to meet up with the American squad in Chile for Wednesday's match at Rancagua. The US will also face Panama on February 8 in suburban Los Angeles.

Nine players from last year's US World Cup side will make their 2015 debuts in the South American friendly, including Yedlin, Jozy Altidore, Matt Besler, Michael Bradley, Clint Dempsey, Mix Diskerud, Jermaine Jones, Nick Rimando, and Chris Wondolowski.

"These guys have put in a lot of work these past two weeks of training for what is essentially their pre-season, and now it's time to focus on getting a result against a difficult opponent," Klinsmann said.

"We know it's going to be a challenging situation, but these are the types of opportunities we need to keep growing."

Six players were released from the US training camp, which continues through the Panama match, while Liverpool midfielder Marc Pelosi will rejoin the group when it returns to Los Angeles.

Yedlin aside, the only Europe-based player on the US roster is striker Bobby Woods of 1860 Munich.
