AC Milan have signed Chile international Matias Fernandez from Fiorentina on loan, the seven-time European champions said on Wednesday.

Attacking midfielder Fernandez, 30, joined Fiorentina from Sporting Lisbon in 2012.

He won the Copa America with Chile last year in his homeland and has played for his country 71 times, scoring 14 goals.

However, he struggled to hold down a regular first team place in Florence last season.

Milan said they have the option to buy Fernandez at the end of his loan period.
