Endgame Summary:
Switzerland versus France - a game to remember! Seven goals were witnessed this evening, five in favor of France and two on the Swiss side of the Alps. With extremely exact and fast moves and by means of such marvellous players like Benzema, Giroud, and Valbuena the frenchmen were able to crack the imprecise Swiss clockwork again and again. The injury of Von Bergen was a severe set back for Hitzfeld's eleven, Senderos could not replace him adequately. On the other side, every time Switzerland managed to escape France´s warm embrace they had to accept another goal out of those numerous and excellent counter attacs. Still, France could have won with an even higher goal difference: Benzema missed a penalty and the two Swiss goals were quite avoidable. Nevertheless and at the lates now, France enters the elite circle of high potential aspirants for the title.

Karim Benzema (France) Full-Time
88'
Only three more to go, Switzerland! The last minutes are starting, it is to doubt that three minutes extra time would suffice to score another three goals.
88'
Yohan Cabaye (France) is shown a yellow card
Due to an unfair challenge, Cabaye is shown the second yellow card in the tournament. Therefore, he misses the last and unimportant game of the group phase. Smart action by the PSG midfielder.
87'
Goooal for Switzerland, 2:5 by Granit Xhaka
There's even a second one for Switzerland! Inler submits a delightful pass to Xhaka. With the help of Debuchy who can't hit the ball in order to clear it Xhaka smashes a remarkable volley into the goal. That was an excellent and clinical finish.
82'
The youngster Griezmann from Real Sociedad replaces Valbuena. The latter was one of those players to organise the French moves towards Bernaglio and made a great overall performance.
82'
Substitution (in) France -> Antoine Griezmann
82'
Substitution (out) France -> Matthieu Valbuena
81'
Goooal for Switzerland, 1:5 by Blerim Dzemaili
The more than deserved first goal for Switzerland is realised by Blerim Dzemaili. The midfielder from Napoli strikes the free kick from almost 30 meters right through the wall and scores. The whole stadium applauds.
79'
It's great to see that the Swiss boys still do not give up. With a lot of enthusiasm they try to make one or another goal. Refreshing!
76'
Benaglio saves him team from receiving the next counter goals. Putting all his skills into the battle, he is able to save three times in a row.
73'
Goooal for France, 0:5 by Moussa Sissoko
And the next goal for France! It's maybe the most bitter pill for Hitzfeld in six years of working with the Swiss national team. Again, Benzema has his feet involved. Slipping the ball from the center through to Sissoko who comes from the right Newcastle's midfielder receives it in a promising position. Benaglio is no barrier for the well aimed shot.
69'
Josip Drmić substitutes the unlucky Haris Seferović who remained far behind his possibilities and, likewise, expectations.
69'
Substitution (in) Switzerland -> Josip Drmić
69'
Substitution (out) Switzerland -> Haris Seferović
69'
Substitution (in) France -> Paul Pogba
68'
Goooal for France, 0:4 by Karim Benzema
Finally Benzema has got his goal! Pogba side foots a long pass through to Benzema. Not really disturbed in his moves, the French top star scores from few meters. The spectators feel sorry for Swiss guys who are just not getting into this match. Every short light at the end of the blue darkness is extinguished by a goal of Les Bleus.
66'
Sakho who suffered a minor injury has to leave the pitch. His tasks will be carried out by Koscielny.
66'
Substitution (in) France -> Laurent Koscielny
66'
Substitution (out) France -> Mamadou Sakho
64'
Big chance for Mehmedi. Just meters away from the goal he is not able to overcome Lloris who prevents the goal with all his skills.
63'
Pogba comes for the extremely active Giroud. Standing ovations for the forward!
63'
Substitution (out) France -> Olivier Giroud
60'
The Swiss back line seems to be more than just alienated. After a cross from the left noone is able to fully clear until Benzema gets the ball just on the penalty area's line. For the sake of escaping the disaster Benaglio punches the shot away.
57'
Blerim Dzemaili shoots from a central position but fails in aiming it more accurately. At least this was a sign of life. Hitzfeld acknowledges this effort by applauding politely.
53'
Of course, the first target to meet for the French team is to stand firm at the back. Deschamps' guys has taken the foot off of the pedal. As a consequence, Switzerland has slightly more possession while not being dangerous at all.
49'
First attempt by Gökhan Inler. He slides a cross towards the six yard box and finds noone but Lloris. No problems for the French goal keeper who still keeps a clean sheet.
46'
We'll get started again being curious how the strategic outline of the teams will be. Does France want even more? Can Switzerland come back? We'll know soon.
46'
Second Half begins
46'
Substitution (in) Switzerland -> Blerim Dzemaili
46'
Substitution (out) Switzerland -> Valon Behrami

Halftime Summary:
We saw a great first half with a lot of situations. Even the Swiss guys though lagging behind by three to zero showed some nice moves. After a rather silent entry phase France took over control and scored their first two goals within two minutes. In their aftermath the Swiss team did not give up and had three big chances to score their first one. A goal by Xhaka was given offside. Then, the page turned again in favor of the Grande Nation: at first, Benzema was not focused enough to score the 3:0, but just minutes afterwards Valbuena finished an amazing counter attack led by Giroud. This can be seen as decision of the game, although, of course, stranger things have happened. Above all, in our beloved football. Let's see what the second half will bring up!
45'
Half-Time
44'
The extra time is two minutes. It would be interesting how Hitzfeld motivates his players in the changing room.
41'
Goooal for France, 0:3 by Matthieu Valbuena
That's the decision! After a Swiss counter attack Evra passes the ball directly through to Giroud. From the halfway line, Arsenals winger runs towards the box where he sees Valbuena coming across the way. Giroud centres right to his mate who scores the third goal for the Grande Nation on this evening. Tremendous game play by the French!
36'
What a game! A full load of chances, two goals, and a missed penalty. 40 minutes and we saw everything already. And both teams are ready for more!
33'
Karim Benzema (France) missed a penalty
Incredible situation! Benzema is about to score his third goal after two ones in the first match from the penalty spot. But Benaglio saves the penalty! Even worse, the rebound is not buried either although Benaglio was still on the ground. Cabayes only hits the cross bar. This could be so decisive but as of now, the Swiss are still in the game.
32'
Penalty for France! Hamburg's Djourou with an extremely clumsy challenge against Benzema. The striker takes the gift with pleasure and will shoot the penalty himself.
28'
Is this the 1:2 for Switzerland? No, it isn't! After a free kick the french central backs cannot clear from danger and put the ball directly on the feet of Shaqiri. His shot is bad enough to end up at Xhaka waiting alone in front of Lloris. He smashing it in but the referee whistles offside. No goal!
25'
And the Equipe Tricolore is longing for more! Benzema obviously seeking for the third goal in the tournament shoots from the left. But this time Benaglio is attentive enough to catch the ball.
22'
The Swiss guys have lost their track completely. Senderos, Djourou and Lichtsteiner need to stabilise the defense now. There is nothing to see from the offense, Inler, Seferović and Mehmedi are invisible.
18'
Goooal for France, 0:2 by Blaise Matuidi
And there goes the second one! Still shocked, the Swiss defense line is too steady for Matuidi. And this guy is fast, as he shows in this situation. Coming from the left he takes a long ball from Benzema with him and puts it in as he would never have done other things. Though, Benaglio is not free from guilt and could have saved that one. But honestly, what an hammer blow for Hitzfeld's team!!!
17'
Goooal for France, 0:1 by Olivier Giroud
And that's the 1:0! And it's the more than active Arsenal striker Giroud who powers a header into Benaglio's goal. A corner was the preparation work done by Valbuena.
16'
France to the third! Giroud crosses low from the right. But the ball can be cleared right before Benzema who would not have had troubles to bury it.
13'
Again the frenchmen. Valbuena comes over the right side centring towards the left alone Benzema. Djourou clears but does not transfer the ball out of the dangerous zone. But Giroud smashes the distance shot high and wide from long range.
12'
Switzerland is sitting deep, but until now no counter attacks could be launched. Still, France finds the Nati's defense a hard nut to crack.
9'
Von Bergen is unable to continue. Senderos, who has witnessed better days in his career enters.
9'
Substitution (in) Switzerland -> Philippe Senderos
9'
Substitution (out) Switzerland -> Steve von Bergen
8'
It seems that the Swiss central back Van Bergen is badly injured after a challenge of Giroud. The Young Boys defender suffers a laceration which is strongly bleeding. But not even yellow for Giroud...
6'
First good chance of the game. Benzema who scored twice against Honduras tries his luck from 25 Meters. His shot from the center right just passes by the right post. The crowd starts to sing the Real Madrid star's name.
3'
Both teams are quite reluctant. Trying to stand firm at the back they are feeling out their opposition. The main gama play are situated in the central pitch, no attacks have yet to be reported.

Kick-Off
The Swiss seem to be beaten. Heads down, they are rather walking than running, and still, goal keeper Benaglio is the best player of the Nati. That just says everything about the performance of Djourou, Shaqiri and Co.
The Swiss guys smell the fire and are close to their first goal now. But Shaqiri needs to aim more precise in order to score. From tight angle from the left he is not able to put it in.
So let’s get focused, the teams are singing the first lines of their anthems. We will see if they play better than they sing. Won’t be too difficult anyway...
Also on the french side their are news: The weak performances of the youngsters Griezmann and Pogba against Honduras convinced Deschamps to give a bet on more experienced players. Therefore, Newcastle's Sissoko and Arsenal's Giroud are the aces sent to make the difference in favor of the Grande Nation.
In exchange for Mehmedi and Seferović Stocker and Drmić remain on the bench. We will see if the Swiss attacking moves are more dynamic than in the first game of the World Cup.
Switzerlands main changes are represented by the entrance of Admir Mehmedi and Haris Seferović, both of which scored in the game against Ecuador whilst not being nominated for the first eleven. Today they deserve their chance to show their skills from the first minute onwards.
Regarding the favourite of today´s battle, France has rediscovered its team spirit after internal problems in South Africa 2010. This might be the plus in favor of Deschamps’ squad to reach far this time. “What is scary is that, this time, everything is great. The guys say to me: 'Imagine if we were playing for the same club'. They don’t want this adventure to end,” said Evra. “Our strength is our togetherness. We are a family,” added Laurent Koscielny.
The German Headcoach of the Swiss Team Ottmar Hitzfeld underlines the importance of the encounter. “We're in a special position with France being our neighbors and it's a derby, so to speak, but if we are to have a chance, we really have to go beyond our limits. They are a team who have put in great performances and were impressive in their play-off win against Ukraine.”
Switzerland had harder times confronting Ecuador. Haris Seferović smashed it in in the very last minute of the game securing the three points for the Nati. Beforehand, it was Admir Mehmedi who managed to equalize the South Americans’ lead with a nice header. All in all, the often praised Alpinists lagged behind the expectations and did not deserve the victory. It will be interesting to see how Hitzfeld’s boys will act against a stronger team such as France.
The upcoming clash brings the two winners of match day one in Group E down to the pitch. France bet Honduras without further complications by 3:0. Champions League star Karim Benzema scored twice, the third goal was a contribution by Noel Valladares, the goalkeeper of Los Catrachos, who put the ball into his own goal. This action also involved a novelty: For the first time in football history the Goal Control Technology was used to detect the goal.
Welcome to France against Switzerland. Until the kick off which will take place at 20:00 p.m. we will feed you with the most notable news around the game. Great fun!
