Endgame Summary:
Wow! We anticipated an exciting matchup but who could have foreseen this humiliation of Brazil in a semi final on home soil? Scolari's men completely fell apart in the first half and conceded four goals in six minutes to a German side that finally showed their full offensive capability. This one is surely hard to overcome, but Brazil has to get up for a final match on Saturday and will surely try to make up for today. Even before the second semi Germany is now heading to the Final as the clear-curt favorite to win the silverware! Miroslav Klose added a personal milestone by topping Ronaldo for the scoring record in an historic night of World Cup football!

Full-Time
90'
Two minutes of stoppage time pass by and it's a final!
90'
Goooal for Brazil, 1:7 by Oscar
Well, Neuer's wish of a clean sheet isn't granted as Oscar beats Boateng at the edge of the box and hammers it down the middle into the back of the net.
90'
Özil has to make it eight! Draxler sends the former teammate on his way, but he can't beat Júlio César.
89'
You can tell Neuer wants to keep that clean sheet. He's furious with his defense that allowed Oscar to get a shot off.
88'
André Schürrle wins a corner corner, but it's played short and all the way back into the German half.
87'
Germany is starting to milk some clock and Brazil doesn't mind.
85'
And when they do, there's still Neuer to beat, who dives for a shot right now and confidently makes the save.
84'
While Löw's team is scoring at will, the yellow shirts are really trying on the other side, but can't get through.
82'
But they might have mercy with this Brazilian side, who are more than humiliated in front of their own fans.
80'
It's already the highest result for a World Cup semi and the worst defeat for Brazil in a competitive matchup, but Germany could still push for the highest win in World Cup history with two more goals.
79'
Goooal for Germany, 0:7 by André Schürrle
Müller cuts back to the Chelsea man who beats Júlio César with a superb finish off the crossbar from a tight angle. Brazilian fans stand to applaud.
77'
Sami Khedira showed his strongest performance of the tournament in the first half as part of the sensational German onslaught and may now rest.
76'
Substitution (in) Germany -> Julian Draxler
76'
Substitution (out) Germany -> Sami Khedira
75'
Julian Draxler will make his World Cup debut for Germany, he is waiting to be substituted.
73'
Löw looks relaxed on the bench and with his team outplaying the opponent in such dominant manner, he has every reason to.
71'
Fred is released by Luiz Felipe Scolari and taken off. Home fans are clearly frustrated with the Fluminense player, but the treatment he received was too harsh.
70'
Substitution (in) Brazil -> Willian
70'
Substitution (out) Brazil -> Fred
69'
Goooal for Germany, 0:6 by André Schürrle
Whenever Germany decides to play fast, Brazil has no chance whatsoever. Lahm and Khedira build up on the right and the captain serves the Chelsea man, who makes it six from the edge of the six yard box.
68'
Dante (Brazil) is shown a yellow card
The centre back is late against Bayern teammate Müller and the first to be booked.
67'
Júlio César rushes off his line and intercepts an aerial pass in front of Schürrle.
66'
Fred continues to hear boos, but although he has been underperforming it's not fair to pick someone out like that.
65'
Substitute Schürrle is one of the few motivated on Löw's side, but can't get to a long ball here and Júlio César claims it.
64'
Bernard tracks down a deep ball on the left side, but he has no support in the box and his cross goes out for a throw-in at the opposite side.
63'
Seems like Germany is not willing to put any more effort than necessary into this half. They still look dangerous in transition though.
62'
The hosts continue to lobby for a penalty, but Maicon should have been booked for a clumsy dive instead.
60'
Fred sees his harmless effort flying into Neuers mitts and he hears it from the crowd. The striker has been criticized throughout and is singled out as scapegoat now.
59'
The record man can rest early and Schürrle will work the flank. Müller will probably slide to the centre forward spot.
58'
Substitution (in) Germany -> André Schürrle
58'
Substitution (out) Germany -> Miroslav Klose
57'
Two late challenges, one Müller and one on "sweeper" Neuer, stops the play. With the Final in mind, these are worrisome plays for the German side.
56'
At least the hosts are trying to make up for an atrocious showing and they should have scored.
54'
They can't beat Neuer! Brazil continues their offensive onslaught and has multiple guys breaking through again after Marcelo set up the play. Not once but twice Neuer denies Paulinho and keeps the clean sheet.
52'
And the keeper has to block again as Oscar appears inside the box. Germany is starting the half quite careless.
51'
Neuer saves! Fred sends Ramires behind the German back four and the keeper intercepts the cross at the near post in front of Oscar.
50'
It could be kind of hard for Germany to stay focused and we'll see how serious they'll take the coming minutes.
49'
Brazil tries to draw contact multiple times in the early minutes of this half, but Rodríguez is unimpressed.
47'
Joachim Löw meanwhile might already be thinking about the Final and takes off Mats Hummels.
46'
The changes for Luiz Felipe Scolari are probably more a statement than a necessity, because it was more a team collapse than individual errors in the first half.
46'
Second Half begins
46'
Substitution (in) Germany -> Per Mertesacker
46'
Substitution (out) Germany -> Mats Hummels
46'
Substitution (in) Brazil -> Ramires
46'
Substitution (out) Brazil -> Hulk
46'
Substitution (in) Brazil -> Paulinho
46'
Substitution (out) Brazil -> Fernandinho

Halftime Summary:
Germany ends all World Cup hopes for the hosts in a matter of minutes! They score four goal in quick succession and completely vaporize dilettantish Brazil, which now needs a miracle of epic proportion to even make this game anywhere near competitive again. Boos rain down on a pitiful Brazilian side and if they could, they would probably skip the second half. Stay tuned!
45'
Half-Time
45'
We're entering one minute of stoppage time. That seems low due to the goal-fest, but Brazil will be glad when they can head into the break.
45'
Germany immediately gets out on the break and Maicon intercepts a through-ball just in time. Kroos would have had clear sight of the goal once more.
44'
The hosts win a free-kick from 35 yards and Marcelo's delivery is headed away.
43'
Seems like the champions of 1990 are relaxing before the half and who could blame them.
42'
Meanwhile Brazil can finally get something going inside German territory, but a shot from Oscar is blocked at the edge of the box.
40'
Too early to look up the record books? A 0-6 loss to Uruguay is the worst competitive defeat for Brazil overall and in a World Cup it's a 0-3 to France 1998. The highest World Cup victory ever is a 9-0 from Hungary over Yugoslavia in 1954.
39'
German fans are having quite a day in Belo Horizonte and have taken back the vocal majority from the home crowd.
38'
By the way: It's 66 games since Brazil suffered a defeat on home soil in a competitive fixture.
37'
The yellow shirts have all men behind the ball and can't win a single tackle around their own box. It's simple amazing.
35'
The bad news: Germany still continues to press and Brazil's defense is just not up to the task. You wondered if one of these teams might be able to get it going offensively and this question has been answered in stunning fashion.
33'
At this point it's all but set that Brazil's journey will come to an end today. A series of lethal counterattacks tore apart the hosts within six minutes and now all they can do is try to finish with pride.
31'
After the stands have gone quite, they slowly begin to support their Seleção again.
29'
Goooal for Germany, 0:5 by Sami Khedira
It just doesn't stop. Mark the date, we are witnessing history! Brazil's defense is a step slow on every pass and Özil easily penetrates the box in transition and squares to a wide open Khedira. Poor Júlio César is in complete disbelief.
27'
Can you believe this? In front of the matchup we talked about the importance of reaching the peak today and my goodness is Germany stomping!
26'
Goooal for Germany, 0:4 by Toni Kroos
The stands are literally in tears as Germany continues his dominance in Belo Horizonte. It's again Kroos who benefits from a Khedira serve and makes it four from inside the area. The Brazilian defense is playing on amateur-level!
25'
Goooal for Germany, 0:3 by Toni Kroos
What on earth? Brazil falls apart in a matter of minutes! Lahm's c diagonal cross kindly drops to Kroos at the edge of the box and the Bayern man makes it three with his shot into the bottom left corner.
23'
Goooal for Germany, 0:2 by Miroslav Klose
A lethal combination makes it two in Belo Horizonte! Kroos finds a cutting Müller inside the box, who unselfishly lays it off to the 36-year old. Júlio César can save the first shot, but Klose picks off his own rebound and scores. He has his record!
21'
Mesut Özil gains a step on David Luiz on the left flank, but the centre back fights back and wins the ball.
20'
The game is wide open at the moment. Brazil is dangerous on the wings and Germany is always looking for their chances in transition.
18'
Marcelo and Boateng exchange words because for a moment the Brazilian was demanding a penalty. Marco Rodríguez steps in and calms the sides down.
18'
What a brilliant defensive play by Lahm, who is initially outpaced by Marcelo but manages to tackle the left back inside the area from behind.
17'
Any chants for the red and black striped are booed down by the Brazilian crowd.
15'
Schweinsteiger not for the first time shows brilliant positioning and intercepts the ball at the edge of the box. The defensive midfielder looks focused.
14'
Brazil tries to shake off the conceded goal and have numbers for a second down the left hand side, but Hulk is unable to get the cross to one of his teammates.
12'
What a stunner for the hosts, but who on earth was assigned to Müller? He was all by himself!
11'
Goooal for Germany, 0:1 by Thomas Müller
It's a set-piece again for Germany that silences the crowd in Belo Horizonte! Khedira wins the corner and the delivery of Kroos drops to No13, who calmly places the volley behind Júlio César from seven yards.
10'
It's such an intensive encounter so far and Germany more and more manages to get out on the break.
8'
Despite a nervous start, Germany breaks through the right side with Müller. The Bayern man delivers a fine cross to Özil who lays it off to Khedira, but the shot form the edge of the blocked is blocked.
7'
Otherwise it's all Brazil early on. Germany is impressed and has to settle a bit.
5'
For the first time Germany can get out in transition, but Dante wins a crucial tackle against Klose, who wanted to feed starting Kroos on the right.
4'
The hosts pressure very well and seem to surprise the Germans a little bit. Hulk accelerates down the left flank and has Bernard in the box, but Neuer is aware and intercepts the cross.
3'
Germany can't keep possession early on due to sloppy passing.
2'
Both teams have had success with their set-pieces in the tournament, but this effort is headed away at the near post.
1'
The hosts are the first to push forward and Fernandinho wins a corner for his team.
1'
Germany get us underway wearing their alternative red and black striped kit! Brazil sport their usual yellow and blue.
1'
Kick-Off
The atmosphere is expectingly grand and of course Germany has to overcome the yellow wall today.
We're all set and the teams led by Mexican referee Rodríguez are coming out.
Both teams are spiked with international expertise, but who is going to handle the pressure better? Germany finally wants to go back to a Final after two third places in 2006 and 2010 and gild their golden generation and Brazil of course keep the dream alive to win the title on home soil. Either way, it should be a thrilling and exciting matchup!
On the other side Joachim Löw sticks with his starting lineup and hands Klose another chance to break Ronaldo's World Cup scoring record. Özil, Müller and Kross will offer plenty of playmaking in midfield and Germany with its deep roster can still fall back on a bunch of talent on the bench with Schürrle, Podolski and Götze if needed. The German coach meanwhile does not think the absence of Neymar is as big a factor as widely believed because others will feel invigorated.
The full lineups can be found here.
Bayern's Dante is sliding into the back four for the captain and the hosts surely will be looking to replace the absentees by committee. Hulk already stepped up last game and criticized Fred will be desperately needed to finally show something up front as well. Scolari challenged his team to take on responsibility in saying that Neymar is one of the best players in the world, but the others also have been hand-picked because they are special.
The hosts had to take major blows in front of the semi. Neymar's tournament-ending injury is an absolute stunner for the Seleção, the Barcelona man was the bright spot in an otherwise often commonly-looking team. Scolari chose Bernard to replace the superstar although the Chelsea man admitted that a back injury of his own suffered in training is bothering him. Additionally Thiago Silva earned a completely unnecessary booking against Colombia for blocking a goal-kick and is suspended.
Both nations cruised through group stage but were severely tested in the round of 16 where Germany beat Algeria in extra time while Brazil even were forced to press their luck in a penalty shootout against Chile. They continued nail-biting their way as both France and Colombia had chances to send the quarter finals into extra periods as well. So a decisive factor could be which side will be able to reach its full potential.
Experts had this one coming all the way since the final draw in December, but the two favorites kind of took bumpy roads to the highly anticipated matchup. Germany and Brazil have strangely not been able to play at their peak throughout, at least not offensively, and have relied on solid defensive efforts and a good bunch of resilience, passion and physical play.
Janosch Ferda is commentating for you. Enjoy!
Welcome to the first semi at the World Cup in Brazil! With the hosts and Germany two heavyweights of international football face off in Belo Horizonte.
