Write stuff! Guardiola note sees Bayern seal victory

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola proved his love for the written word with a note to captain Philipp Lahm on Saturday which led to their 2-0 win over Ingolstadt.

Guardiola, who has been known to attend poetry readings in Munich during his Bayern tenure, took the unusual step of pressing a note into Lahm's hand at Munich's Allianz Arena on 58 minutes with the scores goalless.

After reading his tactical instructions, Lahm moved up into the midfield, winger Kingsley Coman moved from the right to the left and midfielder Javi Martinez dropped back into defence in the German league match.

The tactical switch saw Bayern take the lead on 65 minutes when Poland striker Robert Lewandowski claimed his 15th goal of the season after running onto a Jerome Boateng pass, rounding the goalkeeper and firing home from a tight angle.

Lahm then added the second on 75 minutes when he fired his shot home across the goal from the edge of the area as Bayern made their pressure count after a subdued first half.

The victory saw Bayern bounce back from last Saturday's shock 3-1 defeat at Moenchengladbach, their first league loss all season, to go eight points clear in the table before second-placed Borussia Dortmund play on Sunday.
