Peter Zeidler named Bochum boss on two-year contract

Bochum announced Monday the appointment of 61-year-old Peter Zeidler as the Bundesliga club's coach on a two-year deal until summer 2026.

Bochum miraculously survived relegation to the second tier of German football when they beat Fortuna Duesseldorf on penalties in last month's relegation play-off second leg, after finishing the campaign in 16th place.

The Ruhr-based club had been tailing 3-0 after the first leg at home, but fought their way back to maintain their position in the top flight.

"I'm delighted to be here, at VfL Bochum, and I'm looking forward to the Bundesliga," said Zeidler.

The German was previously coach of Switzerland's St Gallen and guided them to a fifth-placed finish last season.
