Hamburg's director of sport Oliver Kreuzer has said he expects a fight on his hands to keep Germany Under-21 hotshot striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga.

The 21-year-old Lasogga joined Hamburg on loan in September on a one-year deal from Hertha Berlin and has since made an impact under Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk, scoring nine goals in nine games, including his maiden Bundesliga hat-trick.

Van Marwijk, who took charge of Hamburg at the end of September when predecessor Thorsten Fink was fired, has said he is a big fan of Lasogga, who scored three goals in the 5-0 rout of Nuremberg in October.

"If he wants to go back to Berlin, we probably have no chance," Kreuzer told Hamburg media.

"If an English club comes into play, again, we probably have no chance, but if Lasogga wants to stay here and we can agree on the finances, it would be a good situation for us."

There is no option on Lasogga's loan deal and Hertha have the powerful centre forward under contract until 2015.

"I will speak to those in Berlin, but I don't think there will be any change during the (January) winter break and I expect Hertha will take a defensive position," said Kreuzer.

Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are also said to be interested in Lasogga.

Hamburg are 14th in the league, with two wins, draws and defeats since Van Marwijk took charge, and host Hanover 96 in the north German derby on Sunday.
