Endgame Summary:
The match is over and Bayern have won. It will be a match that FC Barcelona will quickly want to forget but for the german side it was a very well executed game. Of course without Lionel Messi there are questions of what could have been for the Barcelona side that seemed to be lacking inspiration against a sturdy Bayern defensive stand. The spanish club had no answer for the constant attacks provided from the left and right flanks by Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. The combination of the two wing players for Bayern ended up freeing space for Thomas Müller to gathy another piece of his goal-scoring collection. Barcelona have very little to take away from the match, Daniel Alves did well at right back for the majority of the game but was beaten twice by Ribery in the ending phases. Bayern Munich have surely made a statement to the rest of Europe: there is a new club in town. Of course they will have to challenge their neighbors of Borussia Dortmund in the final but Jupp Heynckes's side should be proud of their performance on this night. That is all from this match, which provided plenty of excitement for the German side but disappointment for Camp Nou supporters. A historic Champions League final awaits!

At the whistle blow, the German club's fans are chanting as if their lives depended on it!

Match over
90'
One minute left until Barcelona are allowed to leave the pitch.
90'
Defense has become optional for the spanish side. Of course they have already conceded three goals but they should at least prevent the runs of Bayern that have seen players standing completely free in dangerous areas.
89'
Bayern's substitute Rafinha had a chance to make the scoreline even more hard to look out. His shot, after Robben plays him into the box, sails right of hte goal and out of play.
88'
The home side are taking air out of the ball. They are ready for the game to be over and seem to have conceded that they were the second best club on the pitch in both legs.
87'
Substitution (in) FC Barcelona -> Martín Montoya
87'
Substitution (out) FC Barcelona -> Bartra
85'
It is dead quiet in the Camp Nou and Barcelona will once again see their Champions League campaign halted in the semi-final round. The spanish club will have to wait to receive their league title but with a solid lad on Real Madrid they should at least see some sort of trophy this year.
83'
Barcelona have simply not looked the team that were so dominant in the years before. Their lack of success in the semi-final has part to do with Messi's injury but it should be factored more to Bayern's world class skill.
80'
Thomas Müller has continued his excellent record in the Champions League and has seen his 8th goal of this year's competition. He alone has been a nightmare for this Barcelona side.
78'
Piqué (FC Barcelona) is shown a yellow card
A frustrated tackle from Piqué but really not as dangerous as it looked.
77'
Substitution (in) Bayern München -> Rafinha
77'
Substitution (out) Bayern München -> Philipp Lahm
76'
Goooal for Bayern München, 0:3 by Thomas Müller
Barcelona have given up! Ribery once more is responsible for the score. He dashes down the left side and delivers a high arching ball towards Müller who can leap over both defenders to nod Ribery's deliver home. Valdes is helpless if his defense allow players to simply run past them.
75'
For Barcelona to advance into the final now, they must score seven goals. With 15 minutes remaining in the match, it is fair to presume Bayern are going to play in London.
74'
Substitution (in) Bayern München -> Anatoliy Tymoshchuk
74'
Substitution (out) Bayern München -> Javi Martínez
72'
Goooal for Bayern München, 0:2 by Piqué (own goal)
Adding insult to injury for the Barcelona side. Ribery is played into the left side of the box brilliantly from Luiz Gustavo, the frenchman then whips a cross into the box that Piqué tries to deflect away from Ribery's desired target, Mario Mandžukić, and the Barcelona defender only manages to push the cross into the net.
71'
Bayern have kept Barcelona from any major chances through the entirety of the second half. Pedro does manage to find some space to take a shot on goal but if Neuer were beaten by the slow rolling ball, he should have kicked himself.
69'
It has truly been an interesting scene to see Lionel Messi glued to the bench as his team is clearly outplayed. One can only wonder if even he would have been able to make a difference in the result.
66'
Substitution (in) Bayern München -> Luiz Gustavo
66'
Substitution (out) Bayern München -> Bastian Schweinsteiger
65'
Barcelona have no luck from their first corner of the half and Bayern will try once again to push forward. The german side have truly been a step ahead of their competition all game.
65'
Substitution (in) FC Barcelona -> Thiago
65'
Substitution (out) FC Barcelona -> Iniesta
63'
Very uncharacteristic for Barcelona, the home side have not seen one shot attempt towards for almost ten minutes. They cannot hope to win against the talents like FC Bayern playing as such.
61'
Thomas Müller had a chance from right where Arjen Robben scored his goal. Bartra does well to stand in the way for the deflection.
60'
Dani Alves is perhaps the only bright spot on the Barcelona defense that has been harrassed all day. The right back has done well containing Franck Ribery during the match.
57'
The home side simply seem lacking of any inspiration against the Bayern back line. Every time they advance they are prevented from pushing any further from a wall of Bayern defenders.
55'
Substitution (in) FC Barcelona -> Alexis Sánchez
55'
Substitution (out) FC Barcelona -> Xavi
54'
The Robben goal seems to have really deflated Barcelona. They are making minor mistakes on the pitch and the only fans cheering in Camp Nou are Bayern supporters.
51'
Now Barcelona need six goals to see their Champions League season continue. It seems out of reach for the spanish side and perhaps Vilanova has realized it might not be worth it if Messi is genuinely hurt.
48'
Goooal for Bayern München, 0:1 by Arjen Robben
Arjen Robben doing what he does best! David Alaba finds the dutchman in the left box from 50 meters away, Robben cuts left from the right side of the box and strikes the left inside netting of the goal. Victor Valdés cannot do much against the well struck ball.
47'
Still no Lionel Messi for the home side. They will have to find their creativity from some other players.
46'
45 minutes left until the Champions League finalists are decided!

Halftime Summary: >
At the end of the 45 minutes, Barcelona have seen half of the match fade away without them being able to come any closer to the Bayern side. Both clubs have played solidly doing 45 minutes and although there have been no goals, each side has had opportunities to change the course of the game. For the Bacerlona side, it is clear that they miss the playmaking ability of Lionel Messi but his absense has allowed Iniesta and Pedro to take some of the control of their team. They have done well but the Bayern defense will not allow them by. On the offensive end it has been Arjen Robben pressuring the the flanks of Barcelona and taking advantage of counter attacking chances. The german side will be satisifed with the result and they can simply continue to play this way to advance to the Champions League finale. For the spanish club they will need to find some sort of inspiration and begin to tally goals, perhaps Vilanova will send Messi on and hope the injury will not prevent him from making a positive change for his team. There is certainly still enough time for the home side and Bayern cannot afford to take this second half for granted. Which team will control the remaining portion of the game and slide their way into the Champions League final? Second half action to come shortly!
45'
End of first half
45'
Dani Alves (FC Barcelona) is shown a yellow card
Alves has seen yellow for his challenge against Schweinsteiger, his knee looks to have been banged against the german midfieleder and he limps off the pitch at the end of the first half.
43'
Barcelona have managed to produce a few inspired plays towards the penalty area of the away side but the spanish fans are certainly going to start worrying about their chances to reach the final.
40'
After a small mistake from Javi Martínez, Barcelona's Adriano takes a shot on goal but Neuer is once again capable of diving to his right to make the save.
38'
The chances for both sides are unfortunately not being finished by either club. The question for Barcelona fans is how long can Vilanova keep his superstar on the bench.
35'
A typical movement from Arjen Robben as he cuts by towards his left foot and fires towards goal. Once again Barcelona have their defense well settled and can prevent anything more from coming from the deflection.
34'
Iniesta finds himself able to weave through the Bayern defense but his left shot is once again deflected by a wall of red. He could have played in his teammate from the left but the shot could have been dangerous.
32'
Arjen Robben (Bayern München) is shown a yellow card
Robben with a late challenge on Alex Song and has to see yellow.
31'
Another great chance for Barcelona! This time aa Cesc Fábregas finds himself just unable to push a shot towards goal that could have beaten Neuer. The spanish side certainly look to be trying new ways to get past the Bayern back line.
29'
Arjen Robben has put a lot of pressure on the right flank. He has taken his runs well and irritated the back line of the spanish side both offensively and defensively.
27'
Xavi has to score! Alves whips a ball into the box and after a battle between Philipp Lahm and two spanish players, Xavi rips an effort towards goal. The shot sails a few meters over goal to the pleasure of Neuer.
24'
Pedro with an excellent chance but Neuer matches his shot from about 30 meters with an great save. Barcelona's corner falls to Pedro again but his attempt meets the wall this time.
24'
The german fans have travelled well. They are making their presence known in the Camp Nou. If the match continues at this rate, their chants will only get louder.
21'
The pace of the match has truly been a wonder! Both sides are ready to attack the moment their opponent have given up possession. In a scoreless first 20 minutes there have been plenty of chances for both camps.
19'
The club from Munich are once again showing their skill! Once more on counter attack a number of red jerseys swarm the penalty box but Schweinsteiger's heel flick back towards an open Philipp Lahm is sniffed out well by the home team.
18'
Spanish fans will slowly start to get anxious as time continues to tick away. This Barcelona side without Lionel Messi looks to be missing the last piece of the puzzle but they have done well to put pressure on the german side.
16'
The Bayern side look very content with defending and waiting on opportunities to counter. They have done well to create opportunities but just like the spanish side are unable to put the finishing touches on anything.
14'
Barcelona have yet to find any way through the vaulted Bayern back line. They have had plenty of opportunites but there have been no huge chances to swing the momentum towards the home club.
12'
Yet another opportunity! This time for Arjen Robben and he is just behind the defender to ovoid the offsides flag as Bastian Schweinsteiger delivers a lobbed pass over the defense. The dutchman manages to catch up with the ball but Barcelona's defense recovers. Now the Bayern side are lidgering in Barcelona territory.
10'
Bartra heads an effort towards goal after a Barcelona free kick but it sails wayward from its mark. Neuer clears the ball only as far as the Barcelona offense. The spanish side have seen a sturdy defense from their opponents.
8'
The first large effort comes from Philipp Lahm but is defelcted off the Barcelona defense. After Jérôme Boateng defends his penalty area well, Lahm pushes forwards for the counter attack. Once he reaches the box he changes directly quickly and aims towards goal. It may have been dangerous had it passed the defense.
7'
Barcelona seem to be much more awake in this one than in the first leg. They must see the importance of making some forward movement very quickly.
5'
Now both teams seem to be finding themselves in the match. After a decent run led by Thomas Müller and Mario Mandžukić, Dani Alve has a go towards goal that, although is not dangerous, has to be taken care of by a leaping Neuer.
3'
The spanish side are getting tons of support from their fans. Every moment the german side are in possession jeers and whistles of the crowd swarm the pitch. How will the club respond to the support?
2'
The first exchanges of the match have consisted of back and forth struggle as both sides try to control the pacing and tempo of the competition. The ball has sat in the midfield during the opening phases.
1'
And we're off in Camp Nou!
1'
Beginning
Three slovenian referees headed by Damir Skomina and with assistance from Matej Žunič and Bojan Ul will be responsible for blowing the whistles in front of a pro spanish side. Kick off in just a few moments!
To be fair, Bayern nor Müller have very little offensive work to do in order to see the first Champions League final that would feature two german sides. Four goals in itself is a lofty task and this Bundeliga-winning side is more than capable of handling business on the road: Bayern have won 17 consecutive away matches in all competitions this year and have lost one game in the past 27 matches. Regardless of the doubts, Barcelona have to believe in their capabilities and 90 minutes is plenty of time for one of the world's best clubs.
Thomas Müller was unstoppable in the first leg of the competition and the home team will have to pay attention to Müller's ability. Not only is the 22-year-old capable of scoring in bundles, he is also a sound defender and embraces his role in the team. It will be important for Barcelona to keep the forward on their radar.
The matchup between Barcelona and Bayern should be one that the german team are comfortable with. In the seven competitive encounters with Munich, Barcelona have only won once to go along with two draws and four defeats. On the other hand, Vilanova's club should also have room for confidence, the spanish side are also unbeaten in their last 21 Champions at Camp Nou with 16 wins and five draws. Their last Champions League defate was in 2009 against Rubin Kazan.
If the home side look to force themselves back into the discussion of a Champions League final appearance they have to play better in the midfield than they did in the first leg. Bayern were aggressive in their defense and kept the constant passing, free-flowing style that Barcelona loves from being a primary theme of the match. If the likes of Iniesta and Xavi are able to play in their comfort zone, there is no question that Barcelona can score goals and the issue will become whether they can catch up to the german side's comfortable lead.
Regarding Lionel Messi! The brilliant argentinien will see his role in the match start on the bench. The hamstring injury to Messi earlier in Champions League competition will force him to watch at least the opening phases from an uncomfortable position. Yet Barcelona has plenty of talent aside from Messi and it will be interesting to see how Tito Vilanova manages the tactical side of the match without their driving force on the pitch.
Barcelona will look to find the spirit of their 1986 Champions League campaign. The last time Barcelona advanced in the Champions League after a first leg semi-final was against Gothenburg. That squad was capable of forcing a penalty shootout to guide them on to the final. What Barcelona cannot afford would be to allow Bayern to score but the german side are this year's top scorers of the competition with 26 goals total. The Barcelona side are also very capable in front of goal with 18 tallies in the competition thus far. Lionel Messi has been responsible for providing eight of those scores.
The question is, of course, what is to be expected from the two clubs on this evening? The task in front of FC Barcelona will certainly not be easy and no team have been able to overturn a Champions League lead of four or more goals after the first leg. If any team were capable, one would like to believe it might be FC Barcelona especially on their home turf. Regardless, should Bayern score a goal the task may be too much for even a team as capable as Barcelona.
Tonight all the questions about the Champions League final will be answered. Will FC Bayern Munich make their second final apperance in so many years or will Lionel Messi and his team FC Barcelona make football history. Updates will be provided up until, and through the game!
