Italy's Bonucci in clear after injury worry

Experienced Italy defender Leonardo Bonucci was given the all clear on Wednesday after the centre-back was stretchered off in their friendly defeat to Germany.

The Juventus star, who has played for Italy at the last two World Cup finals and Euro 2012, was carried off in the 61st minute of their 4-1 thumping at Munich's Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

He went down clutching his groin in the build-up to Germany's third goal, but a scan has revealed no serious injury, his club has confirmed.

The news is good for the Azzurri with just over 70 days to the start of Euro 2016, and Bonucci is expected to return to training with Juventus after a three-day break.

Italy play their first game of Euro 2016 against Belgium on June 13 having also been drawn with the Republic of Ireland and Sweden in Group E.

The Azzurri also have warm-up matches against Scotland and Finland in the fortnight before the European championships, which start on June 10.
